Faith Development

A new Faith Development, three-part series, will be held on December 4, 11, and 18.  Each night in the Fellowship Hall, starting at 6:30 p.m., we will watch a 25-minute section of the movie “I AM,” followed by a group discussion facilitated by Pastor James.

Until one day it all came crashing to a halt after a bicycling accident when he suffered the complications of a severe concussion that is untreatable and often even incurable.  Tom Shadyac, one of Hollywood’s most successful comedy directors, had it all---the perfect Hollywood lifestyle, the mansions and private jets.

“Facing my own death brought an instant sense of clarity and purpose.  If I was going to die,” he asked himself, “what did I want to say before I went?”  Suddenly, he knew: “I wanted to tell people what I had come to know…and explore these two questions – WHAT CAN WE DO TO FIX IT?”  WHAT’S WRONG WITH THE WORLD?

The movie “I AM” is joyful, profound, and surprising.  Shadyac narrates what the New YorkerWith wit, empathy, and compassion, he finds and exposes our deep interconnections and oneness.  As our guide, Tom confronts the most serious crises humanity faces and reveals transformative solutions.  called, “his own fall from---or perhaps---into grace.”

This Faith Development discussion of the move “I AM” will inspire and enlighten us in our church’s mission statement: “That we all may be one in unconditional Christian love.”
