Local Missions
Morgan-Scott Project for Cooperative Christian Concerns, provides a common, multi-denominational base for churches, agencies, and individuals to help provide solutions for people in peril in this economically depressed area of Tennessee. It is a non-profit organization located in Deer Lodge, Tennessee. They serve the elderly, disabled, and unemployed in Morgan and Scott counties. Every year Morgan Scott relies on members of Community Church to sort and package seeds for distribution to families in need so that they are able to plant a garden. These gardens help supplement their food requirements but also helps them help themselves.
This year members of our congregation made the journey to Deer Lodge and separated bulk seeds into individual packages for distribution. Seeds included corn, green beans, lettuce, collard greens, just to name a few. The packages also included onions and over 500 pounds of seed potatoes. Members of the church assembled over 100 seed packages for distribution.
We at Fairfield Glade Community Church proudly support this ministry and will continue to support it in the future.
"And do not forget to do good
and to
share with others, for with such sacrifices
God is pleased."

MISSIONS MINUTE-PEAVINE CARE CENTER
Did you know that when you travel down Peavine Road that tucked in the back of The Peavine Plaza is the Peavine Care Center. The Peavine Care Center is a food pantry that Community Church has help support for many years. The money that we donate through our Missions Committee helps in providing meals for those who are experiencing difficult times. Over 100 families per week receive food donations from the Care Center.
The Fairfield Glade Council of Churches founded the Peavine Care Center approximately ten years ago. They rely on private donations and contributions from area churches to continue operations. They purchase food from Second Harvest of East Tennessee for distribution. They also receive some food from USDA. Last year Community Church planted a garden to supply fresh produce to the Care Center. There are several members of our church who donate time to the center to sort, pack, and distribute food. If you would like to volunteer some time to help, please contact Bonnie Hanson.
The client list for the Food Pantry continues to grow however the price of the food also continues to rise. Fairfield Glade Community church is a proud sponsor of Peavine Care Center and will continue to help provide for those in need.

The Missions Committee supports selected local agencies that address various needs in our community on a quarterly basis. The funds used for this endeavor are requested by the committee from the Church Budget prior to the building of the annual budget and are subject to ongoing review. On occasion new agencies are added and others removed or given reduced funding due to changing circumstances
Each committee member is an advocate or intermediary for an agency being assisted so that a relationship is created with the group being helped. Checks for funds approved at quarterly meetings are personally delivered by committee members to further establish our support.
There is a loose change collection tradition called “Dimes” which encourages attendees to save loose change for a weekly offering. The sum of this money is primarily used for kids missions and programs focused on summer and Christmas activities for local children.
In addition, our members volunteer their time and talent to these organizations, as well as other agencies in the local area.
