An off-shoot group calling themselves the Outdoor Nature group took their first hike led by Jerry Brown on Wed. May 27. Jerry is one of the trail builders in the Glade and he pointed out features of the trail’s topography and explained some of the factors and ‘rules’ that go into building trails.  Five people walked the Cascade Trail enjoying the last of the blooming mountain laurel, spotting a few other wildflowers, and identifying bird calls of the Northern Parula, Hooded warbler, Kentucky warbler, Worm-eating warbler, and Scarlet Tanager. Jerry plans to lead these outdoor walks regularly through the summer and fall.
